Mission Statement
The ultimate goal of the U23 Development Team is to assist the development of young cyclists and provide the resources to get them as far as they are able and willing to go, while also teaching life and business skills through experiences found through bike racing. Beyond cycling, our organization also focuses on the personal development of our younger riders through mentorship and by giving back to the community through
local events, clinics, and volunteering.
U23 Development Team is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization based out of Texas.
Program Goals
Aid tactical and physical development for young cyclists
Teach life and business skills through mentorship and experience within a team
Teach riders the importance of teamwork, integrity, perseverance and making the best of their situation, regardless of their ultimate trajectory in the sport
Engage the local community by promoting health, fitness, and bicycle safety through rides, clinics, seminars, and other events
Have FUN and enjoy bike racing!
Community Involvement
We strongly believe in giving back to the communities that rose us up. We lead weekly events through our partners and the local community, including group rides, clinics, and seminars. Our events focus on increasing health and fitness in our communities
(notably Houston, College Station, and Austin, TX). Our approach is to make
cycling more approachable and safer for the community by teaching technical
skills and offering low-stress rides to help build comfort and confidence on
the bike. These events couldn’t take place without the help of our partners in
nutrition, training, and injury prevention.
In 2019 we have led kids’ cycling clinics and monthly fully-supported gravel training rides with the generous support of our partners. We will be restarting these rides in June 2021. See our upcoming events for an event near you!
Recruitment
Pedaling fast isn't the only requirement for our riders. We search high and low for riders with the right fit for our program. We value high integrity, hard work, and time management just as much as the athletic talent and potential of our riders.
If you are in the age range of 17-22 and are interested in joining our program, please send a resume and cover letter to our team email (in the "Contact" section of our website).
