Our four man team turned into a two man team after illness struck at the wrong time. Brady and Patrick both raced in the P/1 in a stacked field with over 20 UCI professional riders. Not great results but a lot of great experience to build upon for coming races and a great way to cap off our 2018 national race schedule. Huge thanks to the Killeen family for hosting us this weekend. Our program wouldn't work without with the exceptional people that host our riders. Now our focus turns to the Texas calendar with Chappell Hill and Texas Road State Championships!
Brady 82nd, 68th, 89th, 67th
Patrick 72nd, 84th, DNF/crashed out, 72nd
TuLSA Tough
Bike race at a party! The team rode super strong this past weekend, with Shane picking up a $200 prime sprint on Day 2, Omar finishing in the top 20 on days 1 (Blue Dome District) and 2 (Brady Arts District), and Brady capping off the weekend with a 2nd place on the infamous Cry Baby Hill! #tulsaishere
Bike The Bricks
A bit of bad luck this past weekend at Bike the Bricks but the team fought hard and gained some fitness leading into Tulsa Tough! Brady crashed but managed to finish in the top 20 under the lights in the Pro race. Omar and Shane finished 8th and 9th respectively after a late race breakaway managed to stay away in the Category 2/3 race. Onwards to Tulsa Tough!!! #tulsaiscoming
Texas State Time Trial Championships
Patrick won his first state championship, absolutely destroying the rest of the cat 2 field over the 40 kilometer course. Brady finished 3rd in the P1 category, only 9 seconds behind defending champion Justin Stanley and 25 seconds behind the winner, Stefan Rothe.
The next day the team won the team time trial championship, winning handily by nearly 3 minutes, and narrowly missing the course record by 25 seconds. Thanks to Preston Glace for guest riding with us this weekend! Onto crit season!!
Joe Martin Stage Race
The Joe Martin Stage Race was tough this year. Schedule and course changes made the race play out a lot differently from previous years. With a 140 man field and the centerline rule in play (in contrast to the full-road rolling enclosure from last year), there was a lot of nervousness on the first day, a 90 mile road race in 85 degree heat. Brady made the front GC breakaway on the first day after some killer climbs (Devil's Den and Hell's Kitchen) blew the field to shreds. Brady unfortunately flatted at the base of the finishing climb and lost about 2 minutes to the leaders, taking him out of contention for an overall GC podium. But the team didn't give up! Patrick rode an amazing day on Day 2, leading out Brady for a 7th place finish after 110 miles. Brady then rode to 11th in the time trial up Devil's Den State Park the next day as temperatures plummeted into the low 30s. Brady managed to hold on to his GC position on the chilly final day criterium, finishing 12th overall. Huge thanks to our hosts the Torres family and Phoung Muellar (for the second year in a row)!
